Or should that be sock hands?
This morning I was dismayed to find that my ratty (but comfy) argyle socks had finally kicked the bucket in the washer, and my toes stuck through the holes, cold and sad. I hated the idea of throwing them out because I have a secret love for argyle, and these are my only argyle socks. Sure, you can always buy more socks, but it's the principle of the matter!
So I turned them into handwarmers, using this tutorial.
It was quick, easy, and involved only a pair of scissors! I might go back in with a sewing needle sometime, and make them permanently shorter since right now, at full length, they eat my hands (and I have pretty big hands!), but I didn't want to get rid of that last row of argyle.
I'll take 'em out for a test-drive, today, though!
All dolled up for the 80's Prom we had on campus. I did my make-up, but I'm showing off a lovely new haircut, done by the lovely L. I also spent 45 minutes straightening it, so it's nicer than it normally is, now. I'm hoping to put some red (bright red) tips in tonight (or at least this week). It's my first foray into unnatural colors in 5 years, so I'm excited.
Last week, I sent off my first commission knitting! They were this pair of wool mittens. I felt like they were a little short, but I hope they fit her! This was my first time knitting with 100% wool, which was interesting. I still have some left; I hope enough to make another pair of mittens, because those were toasty! The colors were nice, too, even though they're not really what I would have preferred to have found for her.
I've also finished my NaNoWriMo writing totem hat--I changed my mind on the pattern since the site for the first one became inaccessible (sadface). I started the Squid Hat I want to make for K, but it's not exactly something I want to work on in classes and the like, if only because I have to keep track of rows, which has never really been my forte. I'm a lazy knitter, I admit it.
Instead, I think I'll start a Game Knitting hat and work it around classes and meal conversations with friends and the like, since I don't see much TV these days. (Unfortunately I have not bought her e-book; I am a broke college student once more; sad times, my friends.) It looks like it would be fun to do a silly little project that's supposed to be riddled with imperfections and randomness.
